With the UAE being one of the top choices, a recently concluded survey showed that 44% of 518 millionaires in European countries consider relocating for better economic opportunities and living standards. Among the younger respondents, aged 18-34, the UAE stands out as the top choice, with 21% expressing a strong preference for relocating to the Middle Eastern nation.
The survey, conducted in the wake of left-wing governments being elected in both France and the UK, revealed the extent to which wealthy citizens in these countries are apprehensive about potential tax hikes and the overall future economic situation.
In addition to tax concerns, many of the wealthy migrants are also motivated by safety considerations. France and the UK have both seen an increase in crime rates in recent years. This has made some wealthy people feel unsafe and has led them to consider moving to countries with lower crime rates.
As a country with a low crime rate and a strong government, the UAE is indeed a safe haven for the wealthy, while also offering tax-free living and a high quality of life. This appeal is evident in the growing popularity of Golden Visas and Citizenship by Investment programs among European millionaires. Over a third (34%) of those surveyed expressed a strong likelihood of utilizing these programs to relocate to the UAE.
While the UAE is a popular destination for wealthy migrants, it is not the only option. Other countries, such as Singapore and Switzerland, are also seen as attractive destinations. These countries offer similar benefits to the UAE, such as low taxes and a high quality of life.
The decision of where to move is a complex one for wealthy individuals, with factors like taxes, safety, and quality of life weighing heavily. However, this new report suggests that a growing number of wealthy young people are choosing to leave France and the UK, hoping to get a better life in countries like the UAE.
