And if you get hungry, try cooking up a storm in one of his six – yes, we said six – kitchens! Gates actually bought the property for just $2m in 1988 – and now, it’s worth an estimated $127m.
Oprah Winfrey - $90 million
The Queen of American Talk Shows, Oprah Winfrey’s $90m estate is nestled in Montecito, an uber-exclusive and unincorporated area of Santa Barbara, California. The grand house – which sits on 42 acres of land – was bought in 2001 for $50m and features a Koi pond, home movie theatre and wine cellar, as well as a huge gourmet kitchen. Montecito is a celebrity favourite and is now the American home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt - $66 million
The proud owners of a stunning French chateau in the South of the country, this A-list ex-couple purchased the lavish estate in 2008 – and even made it the location of their highly publicised wedding. With around 1,200 acres of land, the chateau’s construction is traced back to the 17th century and also includes a moat and private lake, olive groves and a vineyard.
Sean Connery - $33.9 million
The late James Bond star had a notoriously lavish home in the beautiful French city of Nice, with belle-epoque inspired design and a natural Riveria feel. The six-story home, which overlooks the Mediterranean Sea, includes a 10,764 square foot home, as well as a rooftop terrace, swimming pool and extensive gardens.
