Emaar Announces AED 1.5 Billion Dubai Mall Expansion

Emaar Properties has unveiled an ambitious AED 1.5 billion investment to expand Dubai Mall, one of the world's largest and most visited retail destinations. The expansion will introduce 240 new luxury retail stores and dining options, enhancing the mall's already impressive offerings.

Mohamed Alabbar, CEO of Emaar Properties, highlighted the significance of this expansion, stating,

"The new Dubai Mall expansion is a great addition to one of the most visited sites in the world. We extend our gratitude to our esteemed guests and loyal customers, as well as our partners, retailers, and government authorities for their unwavering support. This expansion reflects Dubai’s ambitious vision to remain at the forefront of global innovation and culture, further solidifying our city’s position as a top global destination."

Dubai Mall, inaugurated in 2008, has become the epicenter of modern retail and leisure in Dubai. Spanning 1.2 million square meters, it houses over 1,200 retail outlets, including anchor stores Galeries Lafayette and Bloomingdale’s, and more than 200 dining experiences. The mall also boasts a variety of entertainment attractions such as the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, a 24-screen Reel Cinema cineplex, KidZania, Play DXB, Dubai Ice Rink, Ekart, and the Zabeel Sports District.

In 2023, Dubai Mall set a new attendance record with 105 million visitors, a 19% increase from the previous year, accompanied by exceptionally strong sales. This momentum continues in 2024, as the mall remains a global icon in retail and leisure, offering innovative experiences and maintaining high customer satisfaction ratings.

The contractors for the new development are already mobilizing on-site, aiming to enhance Dubai Mall’s reputation as a premier shopping and entertainment destination. This expansion aligns with Emaar's broader vision of integrating their retail assets into the master plan developments across key areas in Dubai, benefiting from favorable socio-economic demographics and increasing tourism.

Emaar Malls Management, the entity overseeing Dubai Mall, also manages other prominent retail centers in the region, including Dubai Hills Mall, Souk Al Bahar, Dubai Marina Mall, and Gold & Diamond Park, along with several community malls. These assets are strategically located and contribute to Dubai’s status as a prime tourist destination.

As Dubai Mall embarks on this significant expansion, it continues to embody the spirit of innovation and luxury, further establishing Dubai as a leading global city.
