Dubai’s Future Monumental Landmark: The Tower

The Tower Overview

Emaar Properties seeks to eclipse its past remarkable achievements with the construction of the Tower, an upcoming observation tower located in Dubai Creek Harbour. Emaar Properties announced the project in April 2016 to redefine Dubai’s world renowned landmark and increase tourism to the Emirate. UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid selected architect Santiago Calatrava’s project design during a competitive competition between the world’s best architects. Calatrava’s architectural design will surpass the Burj Khalifa in height and represent the UAE as France’s Eiffel Tower or the US Statue of Liberty. Dubai’s tallest tower will be ready by 2020 in preparation for the influx of tourists planning to attend Dubai’s World Expo 2020.

The Tower’s Features

The Tower’s height will be 928 metres tall,100 metres higher than the Burj Khalifa. Its architectural design is unlike traditional skyscrapers in the region. The structure will consist of a minaret shaped slender tower with lily flower patterns, securely anchored to the ground by sturdy cables. The Islamic architectural themed project will have an oval shaped observation deck providing a panoramic view of Dubai. The observation decks feature rotating balconies which extend outward and VIP Observation Garden Decks that will emulate the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. The higher-level floors will feature a boutique hotel and gourmet restaurants.

Location

Dubai Creek Harbour is a master planned waterfront development by Emaar Properties and Dubai Holding located adjacent to Ras Al Khor Rd. This development will become the heart of Dubai upon the completion of the Tower and the surrounding area’s features. Emaar Properties announced that Dubai Creek Harbour will become twice the size of Downtown Dubai, totaling 1,200 hectares in space. Locals and visitors can experience the marina lifestyle as the Creek’s waterfront will extend 2 kilometres and feature 679 million sq.metres of residential space, 11.16 million sq.meters of shopping outlets and 851,000 sq.metres of commercial property. The Creek is situated next to Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary which has approximately 450 different animal species within its 620 hectares for a quarter century. Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary is protected by Unesco Ramsar Convention and is a highly-recommended destination for nature enthusiast. Take a break from the city life and enjoy Ras Al Khor’s Wildlife Sanctuary.
