Dubai’s New 550-metre Mega Project, Burj Jumeira

Dubai has a string of mega-construction projects and its newest addition will become a landmark feature of the Dubai skyline.

The city unveiled a new 550 metre (1,640 ft.) project, Burj Jumeira, in the lead up to much-anticipated Expo 2020, forming a trio of breakthroughs in Dubai following renowned Burj Al Arab and Burj Khalifa.

The oval-shaped tower was inaugurated by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.

The post-expo construction mega project is set to take shape and surpass New York’s 541.3m One World Trade Center, which is renowned as the sixth tallest building in the world and in the United States.

Plans for its design is said to be inspired by the UAE’s flowing oases and desert dunes. It will also include a 1,476 feet sky lounge and inter-connected sky restaurant in addition to a 360-degree observation deck to view Dubai’s spectacular landscape and views.

The façade will also be covered with digital displays and the base is planned to host large-scale events and various activities as well as feature water fountains, terraced outdoor amphitheater and much more.

However, the most distinctive feature of the tower is the outline of Sheikh Mohammed’s fingerprint at the base of Burj Jumeira.

Burj Jumeira is part of the wider Downtown Jumeira development, which is described as the next “pedestrian-friendly mixed-use urban destination”.

It will be surrounded by a mixed-use residential and commercial zone. Tourists and visitors can find it near the iconic Burj Al Arab and is opposite Sheikh Zayed Road in Al Sufouh district.

Featuring residential and commercial towers and hotels, including F&B options, Burj Jumeira is aimed at creating a vibrant community and will become not only a new landmark but also a focal point for the Emirate.

The construction is underway for Dubai’s newest rising and is due to be completed by 2023.
