How long does it take to register a property sale in Dubai and receive the ownership certificate?

If all required documents are in order, the registration of a property sale in Dubai typically takes around 30 minutesat the Dubai Land Department (DLD) or an approved trustee office.

For off-plan properties, the process may take longer and follows additional steps:

  • Once a project is completed and the developer receives a certificate of completion from the relevant authority, they are legally required to register the project with the DLD.

  • After full payment of the unit, the property is transferred from the initial (primary) registry to the Real Estate Registry.

  • The DLD then issues the official ownership certificate or usufruct certificate to the investor.

Note: Timelines can vary slightly depending on the property type (ready or off-plan), whether there is a mortgage involved, and the completeness of submitted documents.
